Americana - from the Grand Canyon National Park-
In Arizona there is a place where the Colorado River cuts deep into the rocks. This is the Grand Canyon between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It's 446 km long, between 6 to 24 km wide and over 10 km deep. It became a National Park in 1919! US park rangers work in national parks at famous monuments. In the Grand Canyon, it's their job to look after the park and the animals. They also say the visiors about the natural and human history of the area.

Route 66
In the US, Route 66 is modern legend. People often call it the Mother Road, because it was one of the first roads thats linked the Mindwest (Chicago) to the west coast (Los Angeles). It opened in 1926 and was 3940 km long. The original closed in 1985. Parts of called Historc Route 66, still exient in Arizona and New Mexico.

Delis and bagels
New Yorkers often eat bagels for breakfest. They run in to a Deli (the name comes from the German Delikatesse) on their way to work and grab a bagel to go. Jewish immigrants broght the bagel with them from Europe in the 19th Century. It's like a bread roll with a hole in it.
